Book Review for The Silent Waters by Brittainy Cherry

THE SILENT WATERS
by BRITTAINY CHERRY

Moments.

Our lives are a collection of moments. Some utterly painful and full of yesterday's hurts. Some beautifully hopeful and full of tomorrow's promises.

I’ve had many moments in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me. Moments that scared me and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones—the most heartbreaking and breathtaking ones—all included him.

I was ten years old when I lost my voice. A piece of me was stolen away, and the only person who could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the light during my dark days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him. Tragedy that eventually drowned him in a sea of memories.

This is the story of a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn’t love themselves. A story of life and death. Of love and broken promises.

Of moments.

REVIEW: 5 STARS
"It amazed me how a heart could shatter in a crowded room and the sound couldn't be heard by a single person."

I don't think this review will require glitz and glamor, or gushing and happiness, because we all know how well Brittainy can write. That goes without saying at this point. This time, it was the emotions and the depth of the storyline that gripped me. To be quite honest, I'm not sure about the rating on this one either.  It just seems, well....5 stars is just not adequate enough for this book. It doesn't feel like I can express how much this book affected me based on five measly stars. It's hard to write a review for a book that touched me so much. I never want to come across as not sincere enough, not honest enough, or not pushy enough, because this book is most definitely a must read.

I read The Silent Waters with a heavy heart. I absorbed the emotions as I read them because of the seriousness of the situation and everything going on. This book, this story, it was blended perfection. An equal blend of trauma and innocence. A blend of adoration and heartache. The most beautiful thing was the devotion between Maggie and Brooks. My gosh. We should all be so lucky to have a love so true and so amazing. Their foundation was written so beautifully. I want to NOT call this a love story, because it was SO much more than that. So much more. I will not easily forget this one.

Miss Cherry is well versed in adding in supporting characters that add to the overall storyline, but do not take away from the main story we are enjoying. I love her writing style the more I read her. This book worked wonders for my heart. I JUST LOVED IT SO MUCH. It was hot in certain aspects because Brooks is the make up of every book boyfriend you want, but I wouldn't classify this as sexy, although Brooks embodied sexiness in his pure heart and demeanor. This was real. It was tragic. It was emotional. It was soul crushing beauty....it just is the type of story to become embedded within your soul. You will continue to think about it, I can guarantee you that much.

If you ever only read ONE of her books...make this one it. It was heavy and beautiful. I really really suggest this book to anyone that wants a book that will make you think about everything as you are reading it. It's not an easy read, but it's not hard. It's just heavy. Such a beautiful progression of the story. It never faltered. I just want to hug everyone as they read it. So many good lessons to read in this book, so many points to be made. I loved how everyone came together as one cohesive unit to take care of the family. If you take anything away from this review, please let it be that this is an amazing book that you MUST read!

The best lesson: Life is one massive chain of events that we don't necessarily get to control.

"I hadn't known you could hear someone's voice so clearly in the silent moments."
