Another love story from Kate Stewart and I must say, I was *stoked* to read this one. The teasers and the tagline was enough to make me drool. Once I got into it, I settled into their love story just fine; it was just getting to that point to settle in that took me longer than usual. It actually took me longer to get into this one than it did the other two books of hers I read, but once I did, it was smooth sailing and it was a love worth enjoying. Koti and Ian had their ups and downs, their pushes and pulls, but the need....that ache, that is what kept them coming back for more and that was so palpable.
Interestingly enough, the banter and the buildup was slowly and gradually building. It lent an air of casualness to it, which was a nice change of pace, but then it turned quite hot. These two were definitely an ache that needed soothing. The undercurrent of sexual tension alone was unmistakable between Koti and Ian, and watching it come out was explosive in some parts. I think one of my favorite chapters (19) showed their volatility, the hotness mixed with some very intense moments. It had my heart swinging for a bit and I felt frantic. I felt like I couldn't do anything but hold on for the ride, and I loved the pull this had on my emotions.

I think one of my only problems with this book, as much as I loved their story, it felt like there was too much background noise. I felt like there was a lot of inner dialogue going on that detracted from the story at hand. I felt like we were getting more insight inside her head instead of discovery in the story. But if that is the ONLY issue I had, then I suppose I can't complain too much. Weirdly enough, this wasn't my favorite of hers, and I know that I don't share that popular opinion, but I still enjoyed it. There was so much drama surrounding each character, so that allowed us to feel something for their plight, personal and professional, but it was A LOT going on. It was really good -- I am not denying that at all, but I think there wasn't enough angst for me....and I was hoping for that with this one. The prologue made me antsy and I was for sure we were going to get that angst. But it evened out very quickly and I never really got that level again. Overall, a tale of woe, a love so undeniable, and circumstances beyond their control....I got a love story that made me smile. Kate can close a book with the perfect amount of torturous emotions. I love the way she tells a story, and she didn't steer me wrong with this one.
