For the second book in this series, I am *smiling*!! I read Knotted as my first book by Pam Godwin and you can read my review HERE. It had some dark elements, but it was HOT and set the stage for an exciting series. She continued that naughty right on in to this book, and I'm a {{new}} huge fan of her writing. Her women are stubborn, her men are sexy, and her stories are very entertaining! I will say this, after my most recent book hangover, this was the FIRST book that I was able to make it through. This one grabbed my attention immediately, and I didn't feel like I needed to 'settle in' to the story. I was so relieved!!

Holy cow, Jake was SO primal....like, grrrr!!! He oozed a gritty rawness that was super sexy to watch. When he moved, you couldn't help but blindly follow. I loved his confidence and the way he carried himself, but he was not afraid to fight for her and let her see his vulnerability. But the sexiest, most enticing part about Jake was the fact that he was so in tune with Maybe. He knew exactly what was going on with her, what she needed, and what she didn't know she needed....and he was very adept at making her squirm. Mmhmm. That was HOT. So very hot. His conviction in their love was powerful; it was adamant. Not once did he waver in that belief, and you could feel his desperation when he knew exactly what he was fighting for when there were no other options. He knew where his heart belonged and that just made me swoon hard.
The secrets in this book kept me guessing and I was so glad that I wasn't able to figure anything out right away. But once we saw what was going on, hindsight was 20/20 and everything just kind of fell into place! Aha moments from there on out. I was screaming at my kindle a few times as well because Maybe had me wanting to pull my hair out!! She had my heart racing and totally kept me wide-eyed. Oh, that girl - she was stubborn! But Jake knew.....Jake knew.
There's a certain fluidity to Pam's writing that is quite alluring. She can write a man with a smirk and a penchant for dark sexual persuasions, but enough compassion to be a real man with manners and accountability. While this one felt a little forced in the beginning, circumstance-wise, I noticed the pages were turning quickly and easily. I had to accept the fact that her ending up where she did was just a push in the right direction....the catalyst, per se. In the beginning, I scratched my head at how it came together, but the innocence of her mixed with the depravity of him, it just worked. The tone was set and I was completely drawn into their world, and I was able to get caught up in the action surrounding them. The two of them together, they were delicious. They were a very cute couple. Oh, did I mention hot - like, lip-biting hot?
As far as the series goes, if you like hot cowboys, men with conviction about their women, men that know when to step up when needed, this series is a must read in that category. I really am enjoying these stories and this family. The final book, Booted, has me scratching my head because I don't know HOW that is going to work and I am excited to read it!! I don't even know what to say anymore....this series is just that good! I'm so in deep with these boys. I just wanna get caught in the rain with Jake on the farm. Is that too much for a girl to ask?? Pam Godwin lured me in deeper with this next chapter in her Trails of Sin series and I'm hooked!!
