REVIEW: 4 You "SHOULD" Stars

As usual, Katy Regnery spins a story with realistic emotions that make you understand and feel the ache her characters are feeling. There was so much honesty and reality to Carlos and Alice's story, it showed the complications and the fact that they didn't have an easy road to follow. True to her abilities, this story whisked me away and allowed me to fall in love and swoon over her super sweet and innocent characters. Katy's Blueberry Lane series is a very innocent series, no angst or drama to really delve through. Her heroes are swoony and her heroines are sweet (mixed with a little feisty), always making their men smile. 

The Director and Don Juan was a fun mix of a forbidden workplace romance with an added issue of an age gap. Now, I am not usually one to read a book where "she" is older than "him"....not my normal read, but I trust Katy's ease of telling a great love story, so I knew she would be able to write me one I could enjoy and not think about that age gap. And she did. With Alice older than Carlos, Alice was having a hard time with that little detail, as well as her role in his job. I liked that she warred with herself mentally over it because those are true fears and emotions. There was some back and forth, some hemming and hawing, but Carlos was steadfast and he knew that she was the one for him and nothing was standing in his way. And my goodness, he gave a whole new meaning to a swoony latin lover! I loved his understated cockiness, his mental strength, and his unwavering support for her in every aspect of her life. He believed in her from the get go and that played significantly well into their relationship.

With these two skirting around their own emotions about their attraction, the air between them became charged exponentially when their location changed. Talk about turning the dial up on the heat! I love the fact that Carlos knew what she needed, when she needed it. He was always there for her and the fact that he knew when to push her and when to back off, that says something. He truly knew her. There was such a delicate mental dance between Carlos and Alice. The rights fighting the wrongs. The morals fighting their desires. Their needs fighting the misconceptions. Carlos was there every step of the way and he didn't allow traditional gender roles to dictate how he took care of her. Katy did a good job showing what true love and support can do in a relationship.

I love instalove. I know it's not for everyone, and I can understand some of it isn't written very believable in some books, but I love it when it's done right. To me, there is no timeline for true and everlasting love. It happens when it's supposed to happen and I feel like this storyline actually satiates both sides of that argument quite nicely. While some of the side stories may have buttoned up a little too quickly, making it feel a little brushed over, it still worked with the overall theme of her Blueberry Lane Series. This is the MOST innocent series I will ever read. I keep coming back to her BLS and will continue to do so. It offers a guaranteed HEA, super sweet and swoony characters, and an easy, palate-cleansing read in between my heavier, emotional reads.
