by ERIN NOELLE
Numbers.
They haunt me.
I can't look into a person's eyes without seeing the six-digit date of their death.
I’m helpless to change it, no matter how hard I try.
I’ve trained myself to look down. Away. Anywhere but at their eyes.
My camera is my escape. My salvation. Through its lens, I see only beauty and life—not death and despair.
Disconnected from all those around me, I’m content being alone, simply existing.
Until I meet him.
Tavian.
The man beyond the numbers.
How can I stay away, when everything about him draws me in?
But how can I fall in love, knowing exactly when it will expire?
REVIEW: 5 STARS
"Midnight may surround us, but I'll be damned if I let her slip into the darkness."
OK, for this being my first FANTASY genre book, I am in love. this was a WIN for me!! Honestly and seriously, I cannot wait for the second book!! To set a record, this is my first fantasy, not of this world read, and I am so excited to read more. Erin Noelle is a newer author for me. I have read one other book of hers, and I really liked her writing. It flowed and the cadence really worked for me. Knowing that this was of a different genre for me, this book was going to be a monumental undertaking for Erin for Me. I know, that sounds ridiculous, but the fact that I was willing to step outside my norm knowing how easily Erin's words flowed, this was going to be a big step for me. Let the record show, this was the best adventure I've taken in a book in a long while. I *LOVED* it!!!!
I love that this was a step into a different world for me....all the while keeping it 'real' for me. Tavian was just the person Lyra needed, and the fact that he was so strong in his convictions, so comfortable in his feelings, it made this story work for me. I read it with a smile on my face. The beginning is a serious undertaking for any heart to venture into. It's hard. It's a scary reality but to have that ONE that you are comfortable enough with, are able to connect with, it makes dealing with the aftermath that much easier. I loved that Erin was able to make this plot line SO relatable while allowing us the escape into the possibilities of the "what if" side of life. I cannot explain enough how comfortable this 'world' made me. Erin Noelle will be an easy read for me. Repeatedly. This book proved the ease in which she can tell a story and allow my mind to venture into new realities. The circumstances, the world at the time, the allowables in place that let me journey into this story, it all worked out so well.
"The blanket of stars above us is breathtaking, but with her nestled into my chest, it's downright magical."
Maybe I was awestruck. Maybe I was pulled in wonderously. Either way, I was able to enjoy this story with a smile on my face. To fall in love with Tavian's strength, to understand Lyra's inhibitions....this story was so easy to follow and so easy to escape into: I. AM. IN. LOVE. I seriously loved this one and the journey it took me on. I couldn't put this one down....and every time I had to, I constantly thought about it.
I have my OWN theories on Tavian and I am so curious about him, but I also know that I may be waaaay off base, but I'm good with that because I am so intrigued. I want to know more!!! It's been a while since I have been this in love with the Hero of a book this much. His strength. His personality. His confidence. HE was so easy to fall in love with and TRUST implicitly. I can't wait for more of their story. I am eagerly anticipating the second half of their story to find out how this all wraps up. I love that these two have something to learn from each other, and with their unknowns, the discovery period between these two is a fun thing to explore. I truly enjoyed this. Gosh, I am so ready for more.
"You don't play fair with those kisses."
"Fair is subjective. I live in absolutes."
"Fair is subjective. I live in absolutes."
I know it's easy for people to just say,"Wow!! This was amazing!!" But for me, being such a departure for me to toe the line of fantasy, this was a BIG step for me. This will rank up in my favorites list because of the EASE of Erin's storytelling, and the flow of her words. I needed this type of story to make me remember the reason I love reading, the ability to experience something new, something so good that it made me turn the pages with wonder and excitement. I LOVED IT!! I know I keep saying this, but it's been a LONG while since I have been this excited to finish a story!!
"Anytime, anywhere. I'm all yours."

EXCERPT
The image of him from yesterday, climbing out of the cockpit and taking his helmet off after
handling that F1 race car like he’d been born with a steering wheel in his hand, pops into my
head and my thighs impulsively clench together. Holy rings of Saturn. Even though he was a
sweaty mess, it was the sexiest I’ve seen him, and considering I’ve been treated to the sight of
his naked abs a few times already, that’s pretty much impossible. The way he exuded command
and control over the powerful deathtrap-on-wheels then stalked toward me like the badass he
is... yeah, I had to chant “Unavailable, unavailable, unavailable,” over and over in my head to
keep me from flinging myself at him.
“You do realize I’m the driver, right? And if my memory serves me correctly, I’ve done a pretty
damn good job of keeping you safe and sound so far on this trip, especially considering how we
started.” He glances over at me, a hint of a smile playing at his lips. “And to add to that, I think
you’re having a much better time than you thought you would. Dare I say, despite your claim
that you don’t ‘do people,’ you might even like getting to know one of your subjects. Namely,
me.”
I turn to watch the groves of olive trees lining the Italian countryside whiz by out the window,
hiding my grin. He’s right. We’re six days and three countries into this journey, and he’s done
nothing but take care of everything, including me. From insisting I sleep in the bed while he took
the couch in Barcelona, to always letting me choose where we go sightseeing and the
restaurants we eat at, to cheering me up the minute he notices my mood turning gloomy, Tavian
West is everything I could ask for in my first real adult friend... and more. I can’t deny it any
longer. I’ve got a full-blown crush on the guy.
One that will stay my little secret.
