Book Review for Midnight Mass by Sierra Simone

MIDNIGHT MASS
by SIERRA SIMONE

We are told that God will punish the wicked. That sinful men will reap what they sow. We are told to scourge our souls with prayer and pain to become clean once again.

Well, here I am. Wicked and sinful. Desperate to become clean...even though it feels so good to be dirty.

But even I never expected what came next.

Even I never expected my punishment to come so soon.

***Midnight Mass is a novella and a sequel to Priest. It's intended for mature audiences.***

REVIEW: 4 STARS

Having just finished Midnight Mass....I'm still fanning myself over here!!!!! Poppy and Tyler are combustible. So. Very. Hot. I just want to say READ IT and leave it at that.

What an emotional roller coaster. My gosh...I was literally gripping my reader while reading this one. This novella had sexiness, drama and emotions, all amplified. If you haven't read Priest yet, then you definitely won't understand Midnight Mass and the dynamic between Tyler and Poppy, so I highly recommend you read it. It's definitely required reading....especially since Priest was the hottest book I've read all year.

Midnight Mass was such a good follow up to Priest. I admit, I'm always afraid that follow-ups won't live up to the first book; especially after all the hype that Priest got. I have to say that while it wasn't the angst ridden, toe-curling, nail-biting book that Priest was, Midnight Mass was the little sister to that: an emotion-laden, knuckle-biting, page-turning need-to-know-what-happens kinda book.

So much happened in MM that it really kept me engaged me the entire time. The emotions that Tyler was feeling while going through what he was -- hot/cold, left/right, lost/found, sad/happy, loved/torn apart -- were such a departure for me from the first book. While we had some insecurities about what was going on in Priest, Father Bell seemed to have this strong conviction of what he wanted with his lamb and the end result was this explosive love between them. It was amazing....so pure, so real, so true. But in this book, my goodness....I think Tyler needed some direction and he was seeking it from wherever he could get it. Whether it was sexually, spiritually, or mentally (internal), the quest for personal contentment was treacherous for him. The strength of his marriage was tested and THAT concerned me a lot.....because Tyler and Poppy's love was mind-blowing incredible and so strong.

The roller coaster we get on starts immediately at the beginning of the book and carries you straight through to the end. It's that ride that you get on and can't get off, but you almost want to. My eyes may have leaked during this book....the emotions were powerful and the pain was palpable. What a trip Tyler and Poppy take. I really enjoyed this book. Definite must read and recommendation. Sierra Simone is now a PICK UP AND READ author for me. Two books....two amazing reads.
