DNF Review for Tempting Love by Kelly Elliott

TEMPTING LOVE
by KELLY ELLIOTT

Can a woman actually make you feel like you’re losing your damn mind?

Yes.

If she is Corina Miller.

The only woman who has ever made me long for something more, and let me tell you, that has me all kinds of messed up. After months of ignoring my feelings, it’s clear to me I’ve fallen for those piercing blue eyes and sexy smile.

But is it too late?

Have I pushed her into the arms of someone else?

Hell no am I letting that happen.

I’m on a mission to win the heart of the only woman I’ve ever cared about—and the only thing standing in my way is one stubborn and pissed off Corina.

I always did like a challenge.

"The one girl who really matters, the one you're going to want to spend the rest of our life with, that girl is going to take work."

I'm SO bummed this one didn't work for me. I have been reading this series and have enjoyed the ease of the story. These books were never about heaviness or angst. They weren't about depth and they weren't thought-provoking, just lazy-day reads. I knew going in to this book that I would be able to not think and just read some sweetness. I loved that about this series. They were palate cleansers for me. I never really thought of books that way, but once I started this series, I realized that's exactly what these were for me. There really isn't much depth, it was just easy-going, southern-style sweetness. No angst. Some OTT drama. Some sexy, sweet times. It just worked for me.

I have a very thin line when it comes to sweet reads though, because I do not enjoy them in general. I like a little gritty, a little heaviness to my reads, but I wanted to make room in my schedule for this seres because I was honestly enjoying the small town love that pulled me in. Nothing mind blowing, just super easy. I got that with this series, but this book in particular gave me more of a nose wrinkle response. Like, I do NOT like immaturity in a character when they willfully or maliciously set out to hurt someone. I don't like revenge, and I certainly don't like immaturity in grown adults. I got that from both Hero and heroine, and that bothered me a lot. I kept asking myself, "Why hurt the one you claim to love?" When I kept asking that question, I knew I needed to step back. It just wasn't working for me.

I was really looking forward to this book because I liked the introduction to Corina and Mitchell and the buildup in the first two books was there, so I knew that their relationship had some emotions to explore. Unfortunately, I couldn't get past their actions and that just made for a rough read for me.

I hope you enjoy this one if you jump in.
