Lesson learned: I should never second guess Sawyer Bennett, seriously, but this book was a test of my patience and a battle of the wills. But, as usual, Sawyer Bennett didn't let me down. Leave it to her to wind up this love story and let it play out slowly and meticulously, while turning up the heat a notch or three.
In the beginning:
I loved Trista.
I wanted to punch Jerico.
In the end:
I wanted to hug Jerico.
I loved Trista.
With this spinoff from the Original Wicked Horse Series, we got to see a little more of a wicked side being based out in Vegas. Sexier covers, feistier females, but thankfully no shortage of sinfully sexy men to read about! With the way this book started out, I was a little concerned. I will be completely honest in saying that I wasn't sold on the first 30% of the book because my moral compass and patience was being tested diligently by Jerico. I literally wanted to strangle him!!!! I could easily stare longingly into his beautiful jade-green eyes with his jet black hair and his smooth-as-silk voice, but I still wanted to strangle the MF'er. He was so blinded by his rage and disgust that he wasn't seeing 'the bigger picture' with the repercussions of his actions and that was really setting an awful taste in my mouth. His bitterness was biting ME.
But like I said earlier, I should never second guess the journey Sawyer Bennett is going to take me on because, without fail, she leads me down a forgiving road through a love story so compelling that I have no other options but to get on board and fall in love. I loved seeing Jerico brought to his knees with everything Trista brought out of him. He ended up being the softest, yet dirtiest talking alpha ever, and his confidence made him that much more alluring. I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but you'll understand it once you read it. I love a confident man, but I love a man that knows his weakness and bows down and gives into it eventually. I loved seeing that side to Jerico. Loved it. I feel like SB did an amazing job redeeming Jerico for all that happened, but gave him the lesson he needed to learn.
Holy Shite: THIS WAS HOT. With this book, we met an amazingly STRONG woman with so much determination and willpower, I was taken aback. She wasn't your typical weak heroine, and she was a breath of fresh air. I enjoyed reading her and loved her character. Her strength in her convictions, her compassionate demeanor, and her ability to let go and explore a whole new sexual appetite made her a well rounded character with a naughty side to delve into. She was so amenable, but curious. Seductive but innocent. I really enjoyed discovering this side of her, and the fact that her secret playful side was aching to show herself provided some super sinfully sexy times. And lucky us, Kynan just so happened to make an appearance with these two. Who is Kynan? Remember Bridger from the first series?? I think he is going to be 'that' book we wait for. I know I am overly excited to read his story now. Hahaha!
I'm glad I trusted my time and heart to Sawyer Bennett again, because she did me good. This truly was a very hot and sexy book, and it showed the capability of forgiveness and the strength of one woman's love that she can provide to her man. This series is going to be a fun ride down a slippery slope....pun intended. I can't wait for more. Wicked Wish is the next book in this series.
