Joint Book Review for Lies Unspoken and Love Unspoken by Lisa de Jong

LIES UNSPOKEN, Flawed Love Book #1

I tried hard not to fall for the bad guy.

My new roommate, Blake, is a jerk—an unemployed artist with a chip on his shoulder. I can’t stand him unless his hands are on me. He makes me desperate for him, and everything he makes me feel.

And then there’s my new boss, Pierce--successful, charming, and extremely good-looking. He goes after what he wants, but what does he see in me?

I try to stay away, but I end up in the arms of exactly who I was hiding from. And when I find out what’s being hidden from me, my heart twists in ways it never should.

I thought I knew him.
I didn't.
The way he kissed me.
The way his hands traveled every inch of my skin.
I thought it meant something, but as it turns out, it was all lies unspoken.

LOVE UNSPOKEN, Flawed Love Book #2

I lent my heart to the bad boy, and he did exactly what I expected he would. He broke it.

And the guy I should have been with—he’s still here. He tries to take my mind off everything I’ve lost while showing me what I could have. I’m ready for a new start, to fall in love again … to do what I should have done in the first place.

Everything seems perfect.

Then the past comes walking back in. I thought I was over him, but one look and I know that’s not true. We went through too much together for those feelings to completely fade away.

When my past and present collide, how am I supposed to choose? They both love me, and I love them.

A heart will be broken … and it could be mine.

REVIEW: 4.5 Stars overall for both books

I know a lot of people don't like them, but I absolutely love them. They provide for a heart-wrenching, gut-twisting decision making process that I love. It involves real emotions and circumstances and I really think that it makes us as readers challenge our own belief systems on what is right and what is wrong. Who's to say that what we see from the outside is what someone is feeling from the inside? We can't....and that's what I love about triangles.

Lies Unspoken started out a little rough, but just a few pages in, I got addicted. The descriptions and the circumstances pulled me in. The angst was very high and I was being swallowed up by Lila's emotions. She had a rough go and decided she needed change....and I could completely empathize with her. I loved how strong she was, and how determined she was to make her life her own.

Lila meets Pierce as she sets out on her journey to her new world. He was a nice face in an unforgiving world, and their meeting, while by chance, was fate. I fully believe in fate and loved this meeting; it was supposed to happen. Pierce is a strong man and has every quality a girl could fall in love with. He's very chivalrous, kind-hearted and wanted nothing more than to make Lila smile and take care of her. I loved him and his demeanor. He was witty and sexy, all wrapped into one! So perfect and so easy to fall for. Their connection was one that would make you smile, and never question his intentions. Ever.

Lila meets Blake in a not-so-conventional way and it really wasn't the best meeting. First impressions and all. HA! There is this guy that is never around, but happens to be there at all the wrong times. But, those wrong times are truly the best times. Blake is a brooding man that has issues. And when I say issues, I mean that he has a lot going on and he is emotionally unavailable, but overly protective. Having said that, they enter a little bit of an unconventional friendship that leads to hearts becoming intertwined....a lot deeper than anticipated. I fell for Blake right along with Lila and felt that connection they developed was deeper than the mind wanted to accept. The heart knew....the mind needed to catch up.

After circumstances cause some emotional turmoil, Lila has to come to terms with her feelings for Blake and Pierce and make a decision that will hurt one of them. I struggled right along with her and may have questioned her decision at the end at first, but it was the right decision for "them". I loved "them" and felt their love was pure. Both men gave something different to her, which made the decision that much harder.

The angst in these books was amazing.
The emotions in these books are true.
The feelings I felt while reading these books were heartfelt.

I loved the sexy times because they were HOT. Like....combustible hot. But, MAN!!! Oh so good! The sexual tension between Lila and Blake was off the charts HOT. The draw and connection between Lila and Pierce was an uncontrollable burn that smoldered right off the pages!! I really enjoyed the time we spent with both men and that added to the angst that I got to enjoy. SO GOOD.

These books are my first books by LDJ and she will be an automatic one click for me. I have purchased five more of her others now and will add them to the TOP of my list!!! There was no made up drama and the heart stuck true to what it does best....wrap you up whole. She has a way of spinning a circle, creating angst and true drama that immerses you into the storyline!! I am a new fan and can't wait to dive into more!

To note: the ending of Love Unspoken gave us a glimpse into the next book.....and I am seriously on the fence on that one. I can't even possibly begin to imagine how THAT relationship is going to work out for all involved. I am seriously worried. That book will be a test of my love for 'him'!!
