I haven't been on my own blog for very long, but I have, in fact, been blogging for a few years. I have enjoyed the relationships I have made and the friendships with authors that have turned into good friendships. What a year 2015 was, but I can't wait to see what 2016 brings!!!
Here is a list of some of my favorite books that stand out to me. I read 88 books this year (not counting any DNF's), which is considerably less than I did last year, but the vacations this year with the family were a lot longer. I will take that....haha!! Some of these books were written in a different year, but I read them this year, so they are on the list this year.
Tell me....do we have similar likes:
Favorite Couple:
The Wake Series by M Mabie.
Casey and Blake had a ROUGH ride, but their relationship was very passionate. I loved how hard they fought, even though they didn't have a conventional "start". This started my love affair with M Mabie.
Favorite Triangle:
Break Even by Lisa De Jong
This couple was put through the wringer and had quite a bit of angst thrown at them. I enjoyed the twist that was thrown at me while reading this and couldn't put it down. I have read a few of Lisa's books and loved them, but this book pushed her into favorites territory!
Favorite YA:
Innocents by Mary Elizabeth
I do NOT like YA.....it's just too young for me. I have run into a few that just left me wanting more. Well, Innocents came highly recommended to me by a favorite author, so I took her word for it. I have fallen in love with Mary's writing and her passion that you can feel through it. You can feel the emotion...you are just put back in that time.
Favorite Dark:
Bang by Ek Blair
This was my first ever dark book and it was a RIDE!! It was pretty intense for me and I loved Echo as well. I am excited to see what Hush brings us and I imagine it will be crazy insane to read. This book gripped me and I couldn't have pulled away. It was amazing!!!
Favorite Cry....ok, the ONLY cry I've ever had:
Emi: Lost and Found by Lori Otto
I have NEVER cried during a book and this book killed me. It was so beautifully written, but so heart-wrenching to read. I absolutely loved the love....and the growth in this book. Brilliantly written.
Favorite Taboo/Hottest Read:
Priest by Sierra Simone
HOLY COW!!!! I can't say enough about this book....it was SO hot and SO taboo and SO forbidden. I love forbidden, so this book was all of that!!! I have recommended this book to so many people. I still shake my head...this book brought back the excitement of reading sexy reads. I love a good sexy read, but this one made me excited to read erotica again. A story mixed with amazingly hot sex scenes. So good.
Favorite Second Chance Romance:
Before We Were Strangers by Renee Carlino
This book was such a great book for me. The second chance aspect and finding
out the twist was a gasp-able moment!! I loved this book and I really enjoyed it. I even found my first tattoo from it...I will be getting a quote from here. Not sure when....but I will!
Favorite Sport Romance:
Ryker by Sawyer Bennett
Each book in this series made me fall in love with a new hockey player.....Zack was my favorite because of the taboo nature, but then I met Ryker. The relationship he had was taboo, but in a different way and the way it played out was awesome. I love Sawyer Bennett's books, but this one sticks out for me.
Favorite Inspirational Book:
The Fall Up by Aly Martinez
This hit home for me on many levels and brought to light a part of my personal life that I had no intention of ever sharing. This was an emotional book that was truly settling. I loved this book, and having Aly on my list TWICE this year says a lot. Her writing gets better and better the more I read it. I seem to be able to connect emotional with her books each time I read them.
Perfectly Imperfect by Harper Sloan
Yes, I have two favorites under this category because of the message each one sent. I believe that we all have a little bit of Willow in us, and this book showed me that someone understands the voices in all our heads....and put it into a book. It was a read that I really enjoyed.
Favorite Serial:
Night Fever by Jessica Hawkins
Jessica Hawkins is one of my favorite authors and she has never let me down. Her angst is off the charts good and she always makes me squirm. This series was an interesting one for me to read and I really enjoyed the push and pull on the morality scale. The boundaries that are tested and the questions you find yourself asking are so real. I got sucked into this serial BAD.
Favorite Male POV:
Legal Affairs by Sawyer Bennett (Clash/Grind/Yield)
So hot. So good. So masculine. Last years Favorite Male POV was also written by Sawyer Bennett and it was Confessions of a Litigation God. This book was no different....engaging, sexy and excellently written. I totally felt that it was really reading from a guy's point of view. It wasn't soft at all. Sometimes you can really tell.....but this was written soooo well.
This was my second book I read by Aly and I think her books get better and better as they go. After reading the first two books in this series, I bought her entire Wrecked and Ruined series with the intention of reading it. I will get to it!! #Time
Tell me....what do you think? Have you read any of these? Do you have any of these on your TBR? Thanks for checking out my favorites list!!
